‘Light as a feather’ all aluminium beavertail bodies for 3500kg GVW chassis
No Tachograph – No Operators Licence – Any Driver
The need to move/recover cars/vans economically, legally, without restrictions on a driver’s licence qualification and to avoid the use of tachographs plus comply with LEZ has prompted Ryders to further develop their ‘light as a feather ‘ lightweight aluminium alloy beavertail bodies that suit some of the UK’s most popular 3500kg GVW LWB day cab chassis, e.g. Renault Master.
Always improving
‘Why further develop something that already works successfully ‘ says Colin Pinchen Manager at Ryders’ Special Vehicles Division ‘ but with modern cars getting heavier due to the addition of numerous accessories as standard, and the donor chassis cabs increasing in kerb weight for the same reason, offering drivers ABS braking, air conditioning and electric windows in even the smallest trucks, then the need for greater payload is this season’s watchword. The first thing most customers ask us is how much will it carry followed by how much will it cost.’
Colin says ‘ we looked at all the proprietary aluminium alloy extruded panels available ‘off the shelf’ for commercial vehicle body building but found the vast majority of these are for general bodybuilding purposes, mainly where there is not such a need to save weight in favour of increased payload. Our final conclusion was
to design and manufacture our own unique aluminium alloy decking panel purely for
use on our ‘light as a feather’ car transporters.’
Impressive spec
Typical alloy body length is 4.80 metres when using a LWB day cab chassis with a typical 4.0 metre wheelbase.
The body has a fully enclosed alloy deck to a width of 2.10 metres.
The 4.80 metre long alloy body weighs approx 185kg due to the use of this unique aluminium alloy product.
All bodies are complete with a pair of aluminium ramps 2.30metre long, stored in-board. These ramps are rated to exceed the maximum payload of the car transporter and are security key locked to the vehicle. Standard features include a front ‘H’ frame with rubber bump stop, 6 x LED illuminated side marker lamps to meet UK Road Vehicle Regulations, plus 10 x tie down rings for load attachment.
Optional extras include tow bar with 7 pin electrics, DC powered winch, flashing light bar, under body stowage boxes, etc
Little or no modifications
Most importantly the design and construction of these beavertail bodies mean that little or no modifications are required to donor chassis helping to stay within manufacturer’s warranty terms plus the ease of removal for fitment to a newer chassis is an added bonus.
Payloads can be as high as 1725kg dependent on choice of donor chassis making collection/delivery or recovery of most saloon/estate cars/vans possible without the need to use a tachograph.
Ryders will fit one to your own chassis plus they have negotiated attractive discounts from the manufacturers of most chassis cabs and can offer complete car transporters from as little as £18,995.00 plus VAT and on-road charges.
