AVRO EX 2009 Roadshow
There was a distinct shortage of visitors and exhibitors to the AVRO -Ex Roadshow this year, no doubt a result of the current economic crisis, but those who did take the time out to visit were full of praise for the venue, and were appreciative of the courtesy and assistance provided by the hotel management and staff, additionally there was of course the all important weather that very kindly this year was present in all of its shining glory. People were taking advantage of the perfect conditions outside, wining and dining on the plentiful decked areas overlooking one of the very large lakes being a part of the Cotswold Water Park.
Great entertainment on Friday evening with the exceptional performance of 'Elite' sponsored by Road to Recovery (RTR) with Saturday evening featuring the Gala Dinner and entertainment provided by R4, a four-piece band also sponsored by RTR. Following a fine meal with fine wine, compere for the night Jeff Bungey introduced Eamon Kelly from AVRO Region 15 in the Republic of Ireland, to conduct a brief auction in aid of the AVRO Benevolent Fund with successful bids by Roger Dyson and Peter Jones with, as always a grateful thanks to all of those that provide the Benevolent Fund with continued financial support. Thanks must also go to Roger Dyson Group and Mondial Assistance for providing the items that went for auction on the night.
Congratulations are also in order to both Mike Boniface and Roger Dyson who were both awarded Honorary Membership to AVRO for their outstanding support to the Association over a number of years. The presentation took place during the Saturday evening celebrations.
The 30th Anniversary of the AVRO-Ex show has concluded with congratulations from many of those who attended. The current organisers of the show Jeff Bungey and Mark Brooks, have performed a great job over the past few years in what is a relatively complex task, this year has probably been one of the most difficult to pull together but they were both keen to complete the 30th show, however RO understand that both Jeff and Mark are to 'hang up their boots' and get back to recovering vehicles - might need a refresher course chaps! Well done to both and of course lets not forget their wives Jackie and Sharon whose lives have also been affected by the difficult and time consuming schedule.
Grateful thanks go to all AVRO-Ex 2009 Roadshow sponsors including:
Road to Recovery Bollington Group Mondial IFRS
Derek Beahan AVRO Region 6 AVRO Region 12 KFG
The show committee would like to thank all who supported the 30th AVRO-Ex show, and they add that they share with you the regrets that more did not make the effort, but the atmosphere was wonderful, the location and weather were perfect and everyone reported having a fantastic time! What more could you ask for?
