Boniface in the Sudan !
Boniface in the Sudan !

Boniface Interstaters are in use all over the world, the one featured here is a MK2 that was installed onto a Mercedes chassis and operates in the Sudan. In this kind of environment the strength and durability of Boniface products is a key selling point, Boniface sell products all over the world and have representatives in some key areas who support the product internationally. In fact the first units Boniface exported was in 1983 and since that date they have built on the experience adding strength to parts of the machine that can sometimes suffer abuse in operators enthusiasm to winch or tow something clear, the benefit of this product development manifests itself in strong heavy duty machinery that can be delivered worldwide with confidence.

A1 Marsden's Boniface Recoverer Trident
A1 Marsden's Boniface Recoverer Trident

This the beautiful truck that Boniface put together for A1 Marsden Recovery which was the centre piece of the display at the Avro exhibition in Dublin at the beginning of September, not only does it look good with new features added to enhance both looks and performance, it works well.
The Boniface Recoverer Trident with its long upper boom and twin 50,000lb winches is supported during recovery operations by the Sidewinder, a single winch version with a cable that can be deployed to left and right for both high and low winching. The under lift is Boniface’s Maxireach Lowline, one of the longest, lowest and most powerful booms available.
The body is custom built to suit both the equipment and Kieran Rice, one of the driving forces within A1 Marsden, a family company led by Linda Marsden located in Belfast, Kieran knows what he wants and drives a hard bargain but as you can see the result is a truck which both Boniface and A1 Marsden are very proud of.

Boniface's Latest Rotator
Boniface's Latest Rotator

The latest Rotator from Boniface is now operating near Venice in Italy and was installed onto this short Scania 8x4. The length of the truck was determined by the customer who needed a compact vehicle for operating in the narrow streets and roads in this city, it presented a number of challenges to Boniface’s engineers. The front stabilizer legs had to be mounted between the first and second axles which meant relocating all of the truck’s components that are normally positioned here, which in today’s CO2 sensitive environment entailed relocating the exhaust system taking care not to change the engine characteristics.
Another consideration was the care taken to locate all the tools within the locker system, all rotators need to carry a wide range of strops, shackles and attachments to enable the operator to tackle whatever is presented to him on arrival at an accident scene. The stowage of components is a science that Boniface has developed with many brackets and arrangements available to maximize the internal locker space.

The First Sidewinder !
The First Sidewinder !

You may have heard about internet web sites that connect old friends and here is a feature added to Boniface’s web site that illustrates vehicles that they made in the past but today may be with their second or third owner.

The truck featured is a particularly special one to Boniface, it was the first Sidewinder ever produced from a concept that came from an idea of George Graham of Auto Recoveries in Carlisle, Boniface like to tease George that the idea was the easy bit, Boniface engineered a product that has subsequently sold all over the world and has developed to become a formidable tool in the hands of many recovery operators.

In fact this complete package was full of innovation; the self steering second axle was added with load sensing that enabled it to automatically lift to provide optimum stability, and the tag axle was added to off load the front when lifted to provide even more stability. By incorporating the Interstater 3 the weight was kept down to a figure that allowed excellent lifting capacity within the permitted rear axle loads and Boniface also fitted a read out that calculated the rear bogie capacity, all the kind of innovations we have come to expect from this engineering company.

The truck started life working for George Graham in Carlisle who sold it to A1 Marsden from Belfast, after a few years service in Belfast it was sold to, coincidentally another Graham, Alan of the company that bears his name who operate from a beautiful location near Enniskillen in Northern Ireland. Alan has refurbished the truck and uses it as his primary heavy recovery truck today, although it will soon be replaced by a new Scania that he is putting on the road, no prizes for guessing who is supplying the equipment!

The Sliding Accessory Stowage Cabinet
The Sliding Accessory Stowage Cabinet

A new feature available on all Boniface custom built bodies is a sliding accessory stowage cabinet. This system assists in positioning heavy items of stowage, towing cross members, fork holders or fifth wheel couplings, in a place where they are in a permitted lifting range. As part of Boniface’s risk analysis, they already provide weights of all their accessories, brackets have been designed to assist in the removal of many attachments from within the locker system. Some of these features can be retro fitted and are available in kit form for customers to install.

Boniface have a sales programme of “being nice people to deal with”, this is another example of their attention to customer care.

The new radio remote from Boniface

BONIFACE INTRODUCE A ROBUST RADIO REMOTE CONTROL

Boniface Engineering is constantly striving to improve the functionality of their products. They have exclusively available to Boniface a high quality radio remote control that in their opinion out performs the majority of radio remotes fitted to recovery vehicles. This radio remote is available across their complete product range; it is available from 2 functions up to 24 functions. They are capable of being mounted externally or internally on any recovery equipment. This can be purchased from the factory and retro fitted to existing equipment that you own (providing the equipment has a hydraulic interface for a radio remote). Please call to find out more regarding the purchase of these radio remotes.

Lightning's MAN fitted with Boniface Interstate 6H combined with a Pioneer Axle
Lightning's MAN fitted with Boniface Interstate 6H combined with a Pioneer Axle

Lighting Recovery is a new name in the West Midlands but it is a new brand on a long established company from that region. RUD Commercials introduced this striking new livery and name to attract attention to their long established towing business and judging from the comments of their customers both new and old this has had the desired affect, in fact they have now changed the livery on the entire fleet.

The combination of equipment they chose to be the first with the new image was a MAN fitted with a Boniface Interstater 6H combined with a Pioneer axle, this combination provides world class lift and tow capabilities, a relatively short truck with good stability.

Boniface have developed this product over many years and have the experience to satisfy the demands of the Recovery Operator whatever their requirement and are delighted to visit or receive customers at the Thetford manufacturing plant to discuss the technical merits of the Interstater 6 and Pioneer performance
