The latest edition of the PAS 43 Specification is due to be published in March. One of the notable endorsements included in PAS 43:2010 will be the requirement for UKAS Accredited Certification and Inspection Bodies to register the names of companies they have assessed and found compliant to the requirements of PAS 43.
The details will be logged on to the SURVIVE website for easy referral. This is seen as a particularly helpful addition for customers who up until now have spent considerable time on administration and telephone calls because there was no other option available to them, but with a central registration point this should provide a significant improvement of access to the required information.
There is a cost associated with maintenance of the register which is expected to be met by the RAC, AA, Green Flag and possibly others who stand to make most use of the new facility.
There are a number of alterations and additions to PAS 43:2010 but none are considered major changes. The completed PAS 43 document will be available to purchase from the BSI Publications website. All PAS 43 compliant companies should retain a current edition of the Specification to satisfy the requirements of an official audit.
