AVRO have once again called upon the Department for Transport (DfT) and VOSA to clarify the situation regarding the RDT Combi Unit (van, tow dolly and casualty vehicle) generally in use with the AA and RAC patrols.
The DfT have responded today Thursday 20 September with a spokesperson saying they have been unavoidably held up looking at this issue in detail due to unforeseen events, "but we are not too far away from reaching a decision on this and would hope to have something for you within the next 2/3 weeks."
VOSA have previously indicated that they believe the combination converts to a specialised breakdown vehicle and therefore subject to the use of tachograph if operated outside 100km from base.
